Our Classes

Dream offers a variety of classes from September to June including:  Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Technique and Hip-Hop.  In all classes (except Technique) technique is stressed the first half of the year, while in the second half we concentrate on our recital dance.  The dance classes are based on 6 different levels:

*Ballet is the foundation for all other dance forms.  It teaches grace, helps with balance and increases flexibility.  It is recommended that all children take a ballet class in addition to their other classes.  It is mandatory that any student enrolled in a Competition Lyrical or Contemporary class take ballet.

*Please note there are beginner and advanced classes within every level of dance.  Children will be placed at the teachers/directors discretion according to skill and experience, not necessarily age.  Children will also be moved immediately if a class does not fit their skill level in a specific dance subject.

Competition Teams

Dream has been competing for 7 years now!  Every spring we hold auditions for interested dancers.  Once chosen, dancers will be placed on a competition team that meets their needs as well as skill level.  All dancers chosen are done so at the discretion of the teacher and or director.  Thus far we have attended Starbound National Dance Competition, Dancer’s Inc. National Dance Competition and Thrive National Talent Competition.  We have walked away with numerous trophies and special awards.  Please come see our Trophy and Awards display in our studio waiting area!

Competitions are great for development of poise, self-esteem and team work.  Our teams display spirit and commitment.  We attend competitions for fun and no child is forced to be on a competition team.  However, if you make a team and decide to participate on that team you MUST be committed.  A maximum of 5 absences is permitted from September-June and attendance at all competition rehearsals and competitions is required NO EXCEPTIONS!

Advanced students (at the discretion of the teacher) may participate in competition classes without participating in a single competition.  Children taking a competition lyrical or contemporary class MUST enroll in a ballet class as well.  Children taking a competition jazz or tap class must enroll in a technique class as well.  Technical moves are extremely important at the competition level and taking ballet/technique classes can only strengthen specific moves.

Technique

These classes are designed for all students on competition teams.  They are 1 hour, once a week.  They are rigorous classes which focus on perfecting such technique as different types of turns, leaps, splits, etc.

Adult Tap and Hip-Hop

Our adult classes are so much fun!  Lots of laughs and energy make these classes a blast!
